Graphic design: 8 months agoMy report with the conversation I had with feibouz about Card Stories:
ABOUT THE GAME
- She loves the game, the design and the game play
- Doesn’t understand very well the first time she plays, but on the second time everything is clear
- She tested with 2 other friends of her (without me) and she said she didn’t had to explain anything for…[Read more] -

Graphic design: 8 months, 3 weeks agoHey everyone, specially @blanchard!
I’ve finished the design for the CNC document, its on the folder business/layout/CNC/indesign/CNC_2011.indd, its still missing the last 2 pages, but I’ll finish that today, there’s text missing, right?Today I start my course, so I’ll be back around 17h Paris time, if you need to talk to me, write here…[Read more]

Graphic design: 9 months agoDear @tartarugafeliz, (
)Do you mind taking a look at the author’s results I cooked up? It’s here:
http://arbrandes.homelinux.com:8080/static/?skin=complete_owner
I made the cards a bit bigger than on your design, so that up to 5 votes can fit comfortably beside each of them. However, this means there is less space for the illustration…[Read more]

Dear @arbrandes

I loved!! It’s so cool to see it working like this!Do you think if we remove the ”’s vote” suffix, people will understand that its their votes?
If you think they would understand its ok to delete, otherwise I’ll just make the illustration a little bit smaller.
-
Since the schedule is so tight right now, I propose we fiddle with it when the final illustration is ready. Sounds good?

Graphic design: 9 months agoI’ve received an update of the farsides.com website from cssmenow. which I’ve applied here. I’ve also added a couple of extra changes and tweaks.
It’s still far from perfect, so don’t hesitate to send feedback & proposed changes my way, I’ll see what I can do.

Graphic design: 9 months ago@tartarugafeliz: the author mockups from 5 on do not show the player ”arms”. I have based myself on that so far. However, cardsreturning.mp4 and envelope.mp4, which concern the end of step 5 and beginning of step 6, show the arms in place. Should I go back and add them?

Graphic design: 9 months, 3 weeks agoHey guys! Lulis here.
This is the first scratch of the instructions text. I still need to make it more objective and appealing, but I just wanted to share it with you to make sure there’s no misunderstanding about the game’s rules, that sort of thing. I thought about using a main character (the game master) to explain the rules. Here’s what…[Read more]

I have some suggestions:
“As a player, your goal is to find out which card I picked based on my story.” what about “As a player, you have to discover which card I picked to create my story”
its 6 friends and 6 cards
When the match starts (here, the match has started already by the Game Master), each player receives 6 cards (that are…[Read more]

Yup – actually it makes me think the numbers aren’t very important for the player to know at this stage – could probably just not mention it.
-
-
All good for the game rules, you got it : ) And good job describing them, it’s nice and easy to read!
For suggestions, I don’t have much to offer – maybe just it would benefit from being shorter, but it’s tricky to keep it meaningful at the same time.
Maybe focusing on a sample game could help readability too, since there will be drawings to…[Read more]

”Maybe focusing on a sample game could help readability too, since there will be drawings to support the text. The text could then also be spread among different characters, etc.” – I agree with this, for a tutorial video is going to be perfect with the animations of a gameplay!
-
-
Lulis! Do you think it would be possible to make this text with the feeling of the videos we’re doing for club penguin, like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzlXb059fUs ?
Because its boring to just show the rules like this, if we could make something funny and good to watch, it would be just one video for everything, what you think?
-
Yup. It made me realize we’re probably discussing very different things at the same time. Ideally, there would be different elements, each with a precise goal:
1) A trailer, that just gives the feeling of the game and makes people curious, but doesn’t try to make them understand all the rules (like the trailer you gave)
2) A tutorial, that…[Read more]

You know what? I agree!
Lulis, you understood everything? Come to the chat and talk to us about this, we’ll be happy to discuss and help you

Thanks for the great ideas!
I agree with Xavier – we could make a teaser trailer to attract new players, but we would still need something more informative for newcomers. Not understanding the game is frustrating and will drive people away from it. So I have a few ideas.
If we decide to make a teaser trailer, we’ll need something more…[Read more]

hey, I like your ideas very much !
I think the comic that explains the game is a very good first step. Available on the home page. But could also be available at any point during the game through a click (at least while we don’t have a proper tutorial), in case a player has a doubt on a step – if you think it’s relevant.

Graphic design: 10 months agoHey guys, Laurent just wrote for me, I’ll copy his email:
“Hi Deborah,
sorry for late, i’m go to holiday and i made a lot of things….

Looks good to me : )
It’s interesting the way you interpreted the need to differentiate the results @Laurent.Cluzel – instead of one drawing for each case, two drawings (one for “you win”, one for “you lose”), and then icons on the board to differentiate who won an who lost.
I feel it may still need the explanation of the “why?” the…[Read more]

Hi, I don’t understand when http://farsides.com/wp-content/uploads/bpfb/59_0.516658001311352553_end-generic.jpg is supposed to show. Could you please explain ?
-
It’s to show the results at the end of the game. Right now is very boring, its just a box with text. Now I’m going to create an illustration for each specific case and make a party at the end of the game.

Very good job – I went through all the mockups and – it may come as a surprise ;p – I didn’t spot anything wrong. Very consistent with the author view, and nothing seemed to be missing. Kudos!

Tartaruga, no problem with implementing the changes! After all, that’s what I’m here for.
Thanks for transcribing everything – I agree with all the changes, all good imho. If you put them in a ticket I’ll add it to the design changes story.
Btw, for her remark about the fact that she expects to have something to do during the vote, she may have a point – maybe with a loading/waiting icon like a hourglass, it would be more intuitive,…[Read more]
